Pitta Prakriti Overview
In Ayurveda, a Pitta Prakriti is a body type with which the Pitta dosha mostly dominates. This dosha is mainly composed of fire and water elements. This dosha governs intelligence, digestion, metabolism, and change. One who has a Pitta body type is very typically strong-willed, energetic, or intense, both physically and mentally. Pitta types have a sharper, focused mind and a tendency to be perfect, but when out of kilter, they get stressed and irritable.
Physical Characteristics of Pitta Body Type

Pitta Prakriti
According to Charaka Samhita, this foundational text of Ayurveda, the process and actions of digestion, metabolism, or functions occurring inside every body cell fall into the role of transformation attributed to Pitta. It relates to both the fire and the water element by nature; therefore it’s hot, sharp, and transformative by nature.
Pitta Prakriti in Ayurveda
According to Ayurveda, the Pitta dosha is generally connected with fire and water. The dosha that performs metabolism, digests foodstuffs, and converts those foods into energy is Pitta dosha. Diet and Lifestyle for Pitta Prakriti

- Cool, refreshing foods - Increase your intake of cooling foods of the body and mind, such as dairy products, cucumbers, melons, leafy green vegetables, and sweet fruits.
- Restrict spicy, sour or salty foods because these provoke Pitta's intrinsic innate heat
- Balanced regular meals - Eat at regularly scheduled times to maintain digestion, but do not overeat as overeating can weigh on the stomach.
- Avoid overheat - The Pitta individual needs to avoid excess heat from the sun or intense muscle exertion.
- Aware physical activities - Swimming, walking, and yoga are mild exercises which prevent excess exertion
- Relaxing techniques - Prayers or meditations and some breathing exercise pacify the mind and counterbalance Pitta's force.
